What People Are Saying About Dan

Daniel K. Inouye, the most senior member of the United States Senate, has quietly made his mark as a can-do legislator, working to benefit all of Hawaii. He has fought for jobs, quality education for our keiki, better infrastructure for our islands, and a cleaner environment. This is the work he's done since he was first elected in to the Senate in 1962, and this is the work he'll continue to do in 2010.

People across Hawaii are talking about how Senator Dan has helped them and delivered for Hawaii. These are their stories.

“Thanks to Senator Dan Inouye, the University of Hawai‘i at Hilo’s College of Pharmacy will graduate its first class of pharmacists in May, 2011. His seniority was instrumental in providing us with the $3.9 million we needed to help get our college off the ground. This investment is money very well spent. The pharmacy programs at UHH are projected to generate $50.2 million per year in economic activity, $4.2 million in tuition revenue per academic year for the University, and another $15 million in earnings. With the Senator’s assistance we also received $16 million in federal stimulus funds to become the administrative center of a Beacon Community Grant, used to bring providers and patients together to improve healthcare quality and efficiency. The College of Pharmacy will produce homegrown, world-class pharmacists who will contribute to the overall health of our economy and of our community.”
