What People Are Saying About Dan
Daniel K. Inouye, the most senior member of the United States Senate, has quietly made his mark as a can-do legislator, working to benefit all of Hawaii. He has fought for jobs, quality education for our keiki, better infrastructure for our islands, and a cleaner environment. This is the work he's done since he was first elected in to the Senate in 1962, and this is the work he'll continue to do in 2010.
People across Hawaii are talking about how Senator Dan has helped them and delivered for Hawaii. These are their stories.

“In 2010, Dan Inouye helped secure $1 million for the Kilauea Point Lighthouse restoration, which stands as an icon of the Kilauea Point National Wildlife Refuge. $500,000 was also appropriated for the National Tropical Botanical Garden. These are just the latest in a long list of Garden Island conservation efforts made possible by the Senator. He introduced legislation to create the Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary, which includes the north shore of Kaua‘i. Over $6.5 million in federal funding made possible the land acquisition at Mokolea Point and Crater Hill which make up the Kilauea Point National Wildlife Refuge, home to thousands of migratory seabirds such as the Laysan albatross, and migratory shorebirds such as the kolea. In 1999, $2 million funded the renovation of the Hanalei Bridge at the Hanalei National Wildlife Refuge. The bridge is the gateway to the Hanalei and Haena areas. Dan Inouye has always been a champion for the environment. And we are richer for it.”
