What People Are Saying About Dan

Daniel K. Inouye, the most senior member of the United States Senate, has quietly made his mark as a can-do legislator, working to benefit all of Hawaii. He has fought for jobs, quality education for our keiki, better infrastructure for our islands, and a cleaner environment. This is the work he's done since he was first elected in to the Senate in 1962, and this is the work he'll continue to do in 2010.

People across Hawaii are talking about how Senator Dan has helped them and delivered for Hawaii. These are their stories.

“Senator Inouye envisioned the Lana‘i Project to provide targeted activities and educational opportunities for young people. Since its inception, more than $1 million dollars was invested and over 650 young people assisted. Successful programs include culinary training, upgrades to the MCC computer lab, firefighter, emergency response and healthcare worker training, and trades training programs to address the shortage of carpenters, electricians, plumbers, and auto mechanics on the island. Senator Inouye also championed investments in support of safe places and activities for children. A federal appropriation to the Lana‘i Youth Center doubled its space and its ability to serve more young people and keep them drug and alcohol free. And now, the Lana‘i Community Health Center is the newest to join the statewide federal network – their staff still working to become fully operational – thanks to funding secured by Senator Inouye.”
