What People Are Saying About Dan

Daniel K. Inouye, the most senior member of the United States Senate, has quietly made his mark as a can-do legislator, working to benefit all of Hawaii. He has fought for jobs, quality education for our keiki, better infrastructure for our islands, and a cleaner environment. This is the work he's done since he was first elected in to the Senate in 1962, and this is the work he'll continue to do in 2010.

People across Hawaii are talking about how Senator Dan has helped them and delivered for Hawaii. These are their stories.

“Long before the latest oil crisis and environmental disaster, Senator Dan Inouye supported solar, wind, OTEC, geothermal and other green technologies. And he’s done it in the most important way possible, by securing funding for projects in Hawai‘i. His efforts have helped provide the Islands with $175 million in federal appropriations in the last five years alone. These include the UH Natural Energy Institute, the Hawai‘i Energy and Environmental Technology Initiative, the Hawai‘I Renewable Energy Development Venture, and biomass and biofuel initiatives. Efforts are also underway to support fuel cell, transportation fuels, electric and hydrogen vehicle demonstrations. And, federal funds are also being invested in Hawai‘i’s small technology companies, in cutting edge developments like smart grid and metering, micro-concentrating solar power, bio-algae, and battery storage. Another $150 million in economic stimulus is supporting energy efficiency and clean energy projects.”
