What People Are Saying About Dan

Daniel K. Inouye, the most senior member of the United States Senate, has quietly made his mark as a can-do legislator, working to benefit all of Hawaii. He has fought for jobs, quality education for our keiki, better infrastructure for our islands, and a cleaner environment. This is the work he's done since he was first elected in to the Senate in 1962, and this is the work he'll continue to do in 2010.

People across Hawaii are talking about how Senator Dan has helped them and delivered for Hawaii. These are their stories.

Since 2006, Senator Inouye has worked with the Kaua‘i Economic Development Board to create and expand Aloha ‘Ike – “to love learning” – a program in partnership with the Department of Education. Aloha ‘Ike supports all of Kaua‘i’s public, private and charter schools K-12 by augmenting the school curriculum and funding academic extracurricular activities. Projects include robotics, rocketry, digital media, drama, aquaculture, biofuel cars, Hawaiian culture, wind power, media production, meteorology and journalism. More than 4,000 Garden Island students have benefited so far. Fifty community partners have assisted teachers directly to enrich the learning experiences. Senator Inouye has helped Aloha ‘Ike to raise $550,000 in private funds for extracurricular academic projects in Kaua‘i schools and secured over $1 million in federal funds.
